What is BFFs Last Litter program ?
Our Last Litter Program (LLP) is designed to help reduce the overwhelming surge of kittens that flood rescues and pounds across Australia at the end of each year. This “kitten explosion” pushes shelters and rescue organisations beyond capacity, leaving thousands of vulnerable kittens at risk.
The concept is simple: Best Friends Felines (BFF) takes in the entire litter to rehome through our network, and in return, we desex the mother cat free of charge
at one of our nominated vets, and return her to her owners.
All kittens are desexed, microchipped, and receive a full course of vaccinations before they leave our care. Last Litter mums receive desexing only.
Since launching LLP in 2017, we have desexed over 200 mums.
We seek sponsors for each Last Litter mum and her kittens. Your sponsorship helps us continue this vital program without reducing the number of rescue intakes, easing the financial strain on our Not-for-Profit organisation.
Why Sponsorship Matters:
Most cats in our care require extensive vet work, meaning we run at a loss unless they come to us fully healthy and vetted—which is incredibly rare.
Adoption fees do not cover the full cost of vet bills, but every cat that leaves BFF has received all necessary medical care.

Sponsorship costs
Our costs are based on covering the average desexing cost across our veterinary partners.
A last litter Mum is $150
A last litter kitten is $115

Last Litter application form to discuss placement availability.
Please note: Places are limited and entirely dependent on available foster carers and sponsorship for the mum.
