Tasman – Male DSH

 

If Eric from Up were a cat, we’re quite certain he’d look and act exactly like Tasman. This sweet, slightly chonky tuxedo boy has had “old man energy” from day one. He’s the kind of cat who likes a routine, enjoys a quiet potter around the house, and will happily sit back and observe the chaos of the world (and the resident kittens) with a dignified little hurrumph… while secretly being thoroughly entertained.

 

Tasman is a character. With kittens, he very much believes introductions should be on his terms-he’ll either greet them with a gentle head boop or a swift “mind your manners” tap, with very little in between. With adult cats, he’s equally selective: they are either worthy of his affection and cuddles, or they are to be politely ignored as though they simply do not exist.

 

When it comes to humans, Tasman is confident in his own quiet way. He’ll happily wander out to inspect visitors, doing a slow, proud lap of his domain-showing off his favourite couch, his climbing perch, and all the best spots in the house. But this is a “look but don’t touch” situation… until he decides otherwise.

 

And when he does decide you’re worthy? That’s when the magic happens.

 

Tasman is a devoted little shadow who will follow you around like a puppy, gently reminding you of his presence with soft meows and the occasional sneaky ankle tap (which he will absolutely pretend wasn’t him). He loves being near his people-whether that’s supervising your day or settling in beside you for some well-earned pats.

 

Once he knows and trusts you, Tasman is incredibly affectionate. He adores cuddles, pats on the couch or bed, and yes… even tummy rubs. He can be picked up and carried like a baby (a privilege he reserves for his trusted humans), and he will happily melt into affection once he feels safe.

 

Tasman has come such a long way in care. From a shy boy who would hide away when visitors arrived, he has grown into a confident, curious cat who now approaches new people in his own time. First observing from afar, then edging closer… and before you know it, he’s rubbing against your legs and accepting pats like he’s known you forever. It doesn’t take long-just a little patience and respect.

 

Tasman would suit a home that appreciates his gentle, slightly quirky personality-a calm environment where he can continue to thrive at his own pace, while still getting all the love and attention he so quietly craves.
