About:
Josie is a beautiful grey tabby with the most delicate presence.
She came into Best Friends Felines care as a very young kitten after being found alone on an industrial site – a frightening start for a tiny cat, and one that shaped her gentle, cautious nature.
Josie is extremely shy. And we mean truly shy. For much of her time in care, she has chosen the safety of hiding places – spending months under the bed, with her foster carer only catching the occasional glimpse once the house was quiet and the lights were off.
She is not a cat who rushes trust. She takes her time, observes carefully, and moves forward only when she feels safe.
Over the past few months with her current foster family, Josie has begun to take small but meaningful steps forward. She’s starting to share space with her foster humans and is slowly learning that hands can be kind and homes can be safe.
What Josie does love – deeply – is the company of other cats. She finds comfort and confidence in her feline friends and especially enjoys spending time with her foster siblings, particularly her brother, Whyte. Cats are her security blanket.
And when night falls? That’s when Josie truly comes alive.
Under the cover of darkness, she becomes braver and more playful. You’ll hear her chasing her foster siblings, batting toys across the floor, and quietly enjoying the simple joy of being a cat – just without an audience.
Josie will need a very patient, understanding human who will allow her to settle in on her own terms, without pressure or expectations. She would thrive in a quiet home with one or more friendly cats, where she can draw confidence from her companions and feel secure as she slowly builds trust.
She may never be a bold, outgoing cat – but once she feels safe, Josie will be a loyal, gentle presence, quietly choosing you in her own way.
She loves her food, has impeccable litter habits, and asks for nothing more than time, safety, and kindness.
