Edgar – Male DSH

Adoption Profile:

Name: Edgar
DOB: 10/03/2020
Gender: Male
Breed: DSH
Adoption Fee: $179
Location: Strathpine
Snuggle scope: Getting better by the day – Edgar loves to smooch, but only likes to be picked up for short periods of time
Cat scope: Good with other kitties, but can try to be dominant
Dog scope: Not tested
Child scope: Older children only (12+) Due to rough play.
Vet work: Completed
Date expected to Leave Care: Now
Booster Due: Aug 2021
Medical Note:
Edgar has a sensitive respiratory system which causes asthma like symptoms in him and will need to be adopted into a smoke free home.

About:

Edgar was found living on a farm. He had no human contact until he came into care, so was petrified of humans. For the first 2 weeks in his foster home, he stayed hidden behind a mattress. When he had his ‘little boys’ operation’ he had no choice but to be handled so his foster parents could check the operation site. Edgar literally shook when being handled, but with a lot of patience (& roast chook! Edgar loves his food), he realised that smooching was actually quite nice! From there, Edgar has blossomed – he’s become quite the confident young man & he loves to play.
Edgar’s purrfect home would be quiet perhaps with another kitty companion & older gentle children as he can play rough at times. His new humans will need to be very patient with him while he’s adjusting to his new home but will be rewarded with his love silly antics when he plays.

Enoki – Male DSH

Adoption Profile:

Name: Enoki
DOB: 19/05/2020
Gender: Male
Breed: DSH
Adoption Fee: $179
Location: West Chermside
Snuggle Scope: Enjoys head and body scratches
Cat Scope: Friendly with all cats after careful introduction
Dog Scope: Untested
Child Scope: Untested, would be fine with gentle hands
Vet Work: Complete
Booster due 28/10

About:

Enoki is a beautiful sleek and lanky panther from our Mushroom litter, which came to BFF very afraid of humans. Enoki has gained a few nicknames, “King Grumpy Face”, “Grumps” and “Spike” (from Buffy) due to his permanent frowny eyebrows and flat ears when he is displeased.
In reality though, Enoki is an incredibly sweet and loving boy, who didn’t take very long to realise humans can be full of love and cuddles. He purr purrs away when he gets head and body scratches and will lick at your legs whenever he gets the chance. He has even begun to accept being picked up and held gently.
Enoki really adores his feline companions and will thrive in a home with kitty siblings, after careful introductions. He can play a little rough, but loves it when another cats meet his match. He enjoys toys, but there is no comparison to a play mate to wrestle and then lay on top of (literally) for snuggles.

Once she feels comfortable with you, she is a beautiful snuggly girl who loves a pat and will roll around on the floor for attention. Jasper – Male DSH

Adoption Profile:

Name: Jasper
DOB: 12/08/20
Gender: Male
Breed: Domestic short hair
Fee: $179
Located: Strathpine
Vet work: Completed
Booster due: 13/01/2022
*MEDICAL NOTE: Jasper has an underdeveloped rectum and anus. It is very important his new family monitors his poops and makes sure that he poops at least once a day, and to administer him laxatives when he’s straining in the litter tray, otherwise he’ll develop megacolon. If he becomes constipated he will need to see a vet straight away.
Snuggle scope: Super smoochy and snuggly.
Cat scope: Loves playful cats, a bit frightened of dominant cats.
Dog scope: Untested
Child scope: Kids 8+ only please. While Jasper is super snuggly, he can be very rough when playing so not suitable for young children.

About:

Jasper is the most amazing kitten! He just adores people and loves to be the center of attention. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him! He’s the best cuddle buddy and will snuggle up beside you all night purring his head off.
When he’s play mode though, he doesn’t stop! He zips around the house getting into anything and everything, and loves to chase and wrestle the other cats in the house.
He’s very food oriented and as soon as you go in the kitchen he’ll start demanding treats!
Jasper had a really rough start to life due to his development issues so it’s very important his new family understands his medical needs and is prepared to monitor his daily bowel movements (potentially for the rest of his life), and to seek veterinary care straight away if he becomes constipated.
Jasper is a very loved and very special little boy who is adored by all of the carers who have been involved in his care, and are looking for the very best home for him.

Jock – Male DSH

Adoption Profile:

Name: Jock
DOB: 09/04/2020
Gender: Male
Breed: DSH
Adoption Fee: $179
Location: Lawnton
Snuggle Scope: Is very affectionate
Cat Scope: Loves other cats
Dog Scope: Loves small dogs
Child Scope: Gets along with the occasional tiny human house guests
Vet Work: Complete
Annual Vaccination due: 13/08/2021
Medical Notes:
1. Jock has a congenital eye condition called eyelid agenesis, where his eyelid has not completely formed on his right eye. The biggest risk with eyelid agenesis is that the lash layer grows in towards the cornea of the eye, causing ulcers and scaring. As a kitten, Jock had a severe ulcer on his affected eye that has since mostly healed. He has also undergone two surgeries to remove the eyelashes that can cause irritation and ulceration with a specialist vet. Due to the severity of his condition the specialist vet believes that Jock’s vision is affected, however this does not impact his day to day life. Jock will need to have his eye closely monitored for irritation, as the lash line may grow back in some instances.
2. Jock also has a Grade 4 Heart Murmur. This was investigated by a specialist cardiologist and found to be an ‘innocent murmur’, and requires no intervention at this time. This will be something that Jock’s new family will need to keep an eye on at annual vet checks.

About:

Jock is a gorgeous, sweet and loving little man with a heart of pure gold. He had a soft and fluffy black and white coat, with little white socks. Jock absolutely loves his humans, and is very partial to cuddle time whether you’re ready for him or not!
Jock is quite a large cat, and is well over 4kg at about 9 months of age. Like many growing lads, he is ruled by his stomach and is very willing to accept any and all treats. He is a very social boy, and enjoys having a chat with you if he wants some attention. He also makes friends with all the resident animals, and will take turns at grooming and playing with his furry siblings in his foster house.
Jock will need a special home with another fur friend to keep him company and use up his energy. A human that is around a lot for cuddles is an added bonus. Jock has some complex medical notes that come with his adoption profile, and will need a caring

Morchella – Male DSH

Adoption Profile:

Name: Morchella
DOB: 19/05/2020
Breed: DSH
Gender: Male
Adoption fee: $179
Location: Carindale
Snuggle Scope: On his terms, or in a safe spot, but he is king of flop and roll.
Cat Scope: Loves a kitty friend, after intro
Child Scope: Untested
Dog Scope: OK, best with a calm dog
Vet Work: Complete
Booster due: 4/12/2021

About:

Morchella came into care very skinny and scared as part of the Mushroom litter. His litter had very little human exposure before coming into BFF care, and it’s taken some time for Morchella to realise that pats and cuddles are really good.
Morchella is glossy black and has the most beautiful face and expressive gorgeous green-amber eyes. Morchella has watched his siblings gain confidence and become cuddly and now it’s his turn to become brave and shine. It started as accepting pats on his favourite spot (a desk) and has turned into flopping and rolling around purring his heart out for pats when he sees someone coming towards him in his favourite spot. He is also loving pats in more and more places with a careful approach. When he gets going, Morchella has the most heart-warming purr that’s hard to stop and he has trouble staying upright while he rolls and flops for cuddles and reaches his head out for rubs when the patting hand is withdrawn. Morchella is still not very fond of being picked up and held, he’ll stick to wriggling around for pats!
Before he left for his new home, Morchella’s brother really helped him – Morchella is cuddlier when he has a friend (or sibling) to cuddle with and is much braver and more curious when he followed his more confident brother around to explore. Though he might be a little nervous at first, Morchella really does love having a feline friend around, and a confident friend would be awesome to help encourage his confidence to grow even faster. Morchella is ok around his carer’s large dog but would be best with a calm dog.
Morchella has blossomed into a very handsome and cuddly young cat, and his carers love seeing him get cuddlier and more confident. However, he is still very nervous around strangers, so will likely not want to interact much at meets just yet.

Mouse – Female DSH

Adoption Profile:

Name: Mouse
DOB: 03/05/2020
Gender: Female
Breed: DSH
Adoption Fee: $179
Location: Lawnton
Snuggle Scope: Is learning to trust her humans
Cat Scope: Okay with other cats with proper introduction
Dog Scope: Okay with small dogs with proper introduction
Child Scope: Untested, but better suited to older and gentle children
Vet Work: Complete
Annual Vaccination due: 13/10/2021

About:

Miss Mouse is a gorgeous and petite little grey and white tabby girl who has come so far since being in foster care. When we first met her, she would cower in a corner and did not trust humans at all. With months of patience and love, Miss Mouse has slowly started coming out of her shell and showing off her true nature.
Despite making significant progress with socialising, Mouse is not a lap cat or one to crave the attention and affection of her humans. Mouse will coexist very happily with her humans, and enjoys spending time curled up on the end of the bed and watching you as you go about your day. Extra special humans may get to pat Miss Mouse, or may even get an elusive head bop, but this comes with time and trust. Miss Mouse does however, respond to food and treats and this will aid with her progress.
Miss Mouse is looking for a special human with time and patience, who will work slowly and gently to gain her trust. Her ideal home will have a human home a lot for company, another feline friend to show her the ropes and no scary little kids to frighten her.

Reishi – Female DSH

Adoption Profile:

Name: Reishi (pronounced Ray-Shee)
DOB: 19/05/2020
Gender: Female
Breed: DSH
Adoption Fee: $179
Location: West Chermside
Snuggle Scope: Enjoys head and body scratches
Cat Scope: Friendly with all cats after careful introduction
Dog Scope: Untested
Child Scope: Untested, but would need gentle hands
Vet Work: Complete
Booster: due 23/11

About:

Little Reishi is the runt of the Mushroom litter. She has a beautiful reddish/brown tinge to her dark coat that brightens up in the sun. Although the litter came to BFF with little exposure to humans, Rei warmed up rather quickly, with the occasional scared hiss here and there, but never any scratches.
Since being in care, Reishi has learned how great head and body scratches can be, and her little purr motor kicks in. She is her carers little shadow and has learned that if she MEOW MEOW MEOWs at her, she might get her wet food or treats earlier than dinner time!
Rei is a very gentle girl that absolutely adores feline company, after careful introductions and a few scared hisses from Rei, she warms to other cats and loves them hard. Because of this she will thrive in a forever home with feline siblings.

Truffles – Female DSH

Adoption Profile:

Name: Truffles
DOB: 19/05/2020
Breed: Domestic shorthair
Gender: Female
Adoption fee: $179
Location: Carindale
Snuggle Scope: Enjoys head bops, scratches and attention
Cat Scope: Friendly after intro, needs a friend
Child Scope: Untested, over 10 best
Dog Scope: Great with a calm dog
Vet Work: Complete
Booster due: 4/12/2021

About:

Truffles came into care as the big girl of the Mushroom litter, though that didn’t last long as her brothers overtook her as they grew. She is a petite glossy black kit-teen with a few white hairs on her chest and a very bendy tail that she holds or bends over her back when she’s happy to see you – spoiler, that’s just about all the time! Although her litter came to BFF with little human exposure, Truffs wasted no time settling in and was soon the cuddly confident girl we love.
Though Truffles gained her confidence way ahead of her brothers and has been the most confident cuddliest girl with her carers, she is still usually shy around strangers and in new places, so may not want to interact too much at meets. But that’s ok, a little time to explore, maybe some treats, and Truffs will be back to her confident self in no time!
As much as she loves to cuddle, Truffs also loves fluffy blankets and pillows to knead, and has even been known to offer her services as a back massager on occasion. Truffles is usually very quite, but she makes the cutest little “sound effects”. Little trills and meows when she’s running around and playing, or wants to get your attention for cuddles.
When she gets cuddling, Truffles does occasionally give a little love nibble, so we would recommend children over 10. Truffs can be a little nervous of new cats at first, but after proper introductions, and she knows they’re not going to be mean, she is fine. Truffles loves running around and playing with her friends, so a kitty friend is a must. She loves the large resident dog when it is in a crate at night – Truffles regularly forward rolls and rubs into the crate at the dog – but not as interested in the dog when it is being an excitable puppy. Truffs would likely love a calm dog that she can cuddle to when she wants but won’t push her for more cuddles.
